Matthew 20:20-21,31 (NIVUK)
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favour of him.
21 ‘What is it you want?’ he asked…
32 Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ he asked.
Twice in this chapter people seek Jesus’ attention, the sons of Zebedee, James and John, with their mother, and the two blind men. Both times Jesus responds with a simple question, ‘what do you want?’ For us this is a great outreach lesson, it is far better to show interest in others, their situations and what they have to say and want, than expect them to start where we’re at. It’s also a question that is directed at us – God wants to know, what do you want?
Have an honest conversation with God, what do you want.
