Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Luke 24:33-35 (21.04.23)

Luke 24:33-35 (NIVUK)
33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, ‘It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.’ 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognised by them when he broke the bread.

Meeting Jesus has a habit of turning things upside down – I know that my encounters with him when I first became a Christian 33 years ago set my life on a completely different tack. It is the same for these two disciples. They left Jerusalem for Emmaus feeling anxious and despondent. Then they met Jesus, and before they’ve had time to catch their breath they’re off again, heading back to Jerusalem, full of hope and enthusiasm! Have you experienced anything like this?

Jesus, thank you for the difference encountering you has made to our lives.
