Luke 24:50-53 (NIVUK)
50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
This weekend has been a weekend of celebrations with the coronation of King Charles. Coming so soon after Easter, this reminds us, perhaps, of Jesus’ own coronation, the ascension, when we celebrate his returning to his Father as King of kings. This is a cause of celebration because Jesus is a perfect, present and powerful king, who reigns with compassion and justice.
Christ is Lord! Jesus, we worship you with our praise and with our lives.
