Daniel 7:13-14 (NIVUK)
13 ‘In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshipped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
This Old Testament passage is fundamental to the Bible’s understanding of Jesus’ ascension and kingship. When he ascended, he was not merely leaving us, he was going to take an everlasting throne with authority over all. He truly is the King of kings and Lord of lords. As much as I might admire much of what King Charles stands for, if I were to choose someone to be king forever, Jesus is who I would pick.
Jesus, all power and authority and glory and power is yours.
