Bible Notes

Colossians 1:15-16 (12.06.23)

Colossians 1:15-16 (NIVUK)
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

On Sunday we were thinking about Jesus’ authority as recognised by the Centurion in Luke 7:1-10. Where does this authority come from? Colossians gives us part of the answer. His authority comes from his being just like his Father, his ‘image’. It also comes from the fact that he is the one through whom we were made. Jesus is the creator and we are the created, therefore we owe him everything.

Jesus, the image of the Father, and our Creator, our lives are yours, we place them in your hands.
