Colossian 1:9 (NIVUK)
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives…
To know someone requires more than knowing a snapshot of them, an image frozen in time, it is knowing their personality, their tastes, their desires and ambition. So it is with Jesus. Knowing Jesus is more than knowing his name or who he is, it is about knowing the kind of person he is and what his outlook and desires are. This is why Paul prays for the early church that they might be filled not with simply the knowledge of God, an awareness of his existence, but the knowledge of his will, an understanding of what he wants.
Take a moment to copy Paul and to pray for yourself and the church, that we too may learn more deeply what he wants from us and for us and for our communities.
