Hebrews 1:1-3 (NIVUK)
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
I have a to-do list so I can try to keep vaguely on top of things and plan ahead. It’s a great idea in theory. In practice, however, new items are always being added to it and it is never finished. What can I do about this? I either keep on working with the hope that eventually I will beat it, or I take a break and feel its accusing eyes looking at me… Here, the writer to the Hebrews says that Jesus provided purification for sins and then sat down. He did it. He finished. The job was complete.
Jesus, thank you that we can be confident in our relationship with the Father because of you, that the job is done which allows us to draw near. Thank you that we can know that we are forgiven.
