Hebrews 8:10-12 (NIVUK)
10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
11 No longer will they teach their neighbours,
or say to one another, “Know the Lord,”
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.’

Continuing the quote from Jeremiah 31, the writer of Hebrews shows how God is going to ‘fix’ the ‘fault’ he found in us, that means we aren’t faithful. Rather than having the relationship between us and him documented on an external document, the Law, he would write it into our very hearts and minds, put it into the core of our thinking and emotion, the core of our being. Then we will know God’s will and have the capacity to be faithful to him.

Thank you Father for your forgiveness and the gift of being able to be faithful. Thank you that you are our God and we are your people.
