Hebrews 11:1-3
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Our faith informs and interprets how we see the world now and in the future. Faith tells us that God is the source and sustainer of the world, bringing it into being and powering it. We don’t dismiss science, but understand it as a description of what God normally does (miracles being when he does something different). Faith also tells us that this world has a future, that God has promised to redeem it, restore it and make make it new through Christ, who will reconcile all things to himself before handing them to his Father. Faith tells us that we can trust that these things are so and that we can confidently build our lives on them, even though we cannot prove them. How can this be? Because of the testimony of the Cross, and of God at work in the lives of his people, including us.
Thank you Father that we can confidently build our lives on you!
