On Sunday morning we started our series looking at our three treasures faith, hope and love. This week’s Bible notes will explore the theme of ‘faith’.

Galatians 2:16 (NIVUK)
16 …a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

How can I have a good relationship with God? Paul’s answer (the author of Galatians) is that we can’t earn our way into God’s good books by doing good things (works), because we’re simply not good enough. Christ, however, was. He alone was able to keep the Law (the Old Testament description of how we should live). He alone was faithful to God. If we place our faith in him, in his grace, God sees us as ‘in Christ’, and his right relationship covers us too.

Thank you Father, that through Jesus we can enjoy a good relationship with you.
