Hebrews 6:19-20 (NIVUK)
19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf…

What is this behind this hope? Why is it so secure? It is the knowledge that God keeps his promises. Hebrews looks back to the promises God made to Abraham and how despite being seemingly impossible to fulfil – they were too old to have children – God brought them into being – Abraham and Sarah did become the parents of a great family. Even more impressively, we see it in Jesus, their descendent, who died and who God raised to knew life, showing that he had indeed sent the Messiah and that through him he was bringing in his kingdom, a world made new and put right, just as he had promised.

What has God promised you? Give thanks that these promises will be fulfilled, because God is faithful.
