Romans 15:4 (NIVUK)
4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

There is so much to say about ‘hope’, it truly is one of the golden threads that runs through God’s encounters with his people. Yesterday we thought about how what Christ did on the Cross, and what the Spirit is doing for us now, gives us hope in God for the future – being a consistent God, we know he will continue to act in this way. Perhaps this makes this verse in Romans the perfect place to finish this week’s notes. Scripture is given to us as one amazing revelation of who God is and the way he relates to us. The more we learn of that and the deeper we hold it, the more hope we may gain, even in the most difficult of days.

Father, thank you for the precious gift of the Bible, the gift of hope in you.
