Acts 9:17-19 (NIVUK)
17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord – Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here – has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’ 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptised, 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
A. C. H. Seymour wrote about the Countess’ conversion: ‘Now the day began to dawn – Jesus, the Sun of Righteousness, arose, and burst in meridian splendour on her benighted soul. The scales fell from her eyes, and opened a passage for the light of life that sprang in, and death and darkness fled before it…‘ I wonder what your experience was? Did you have a dramatic moment of change like this? I didn’t, although I know that over Lent/Easter 1990 I went from not being a Christian to being one. Looking back, I can see that God had been at work in my life for a long time leading up to this moment. I can also see that my life changed as a result, not all in an obvious rush like Paul’s but over time, a process that’s still going today some 34 years later.
Thank you Father that you took me from knowing about you to knowing you – there is no sweeter thing. Thank you for all you’ve done, are doing, and will do in my life.
