Romans 1:16-17 (NIVUK)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’

Alongside Paul’s gathering support for the Christians in Jerusalem that we thought about yesterday, he also gave himself to declaring the good news of Jesus. Such confident evangelism is a marker of the faith I have seen amongst our family in the Sierra Leone Connexion. I remember being at one ministers’ gathering there where they were challenging each other to reach out to new communities with the gospel and to plant new churches. There was an expectation that they should be telling others about Jesus and an expectation that their audience would respond.

Father, inspire us with this expectation and boldness that we too might confidently share the good news of Jesus.
