Ephesians 1:19-22 (NIVUK)
…That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he [God] exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

There are times in my life when confronted by the news, or confronted by the needs of those around me, that I feel helpless. What can I do about this? How can I make a difference? To be honest, generally, there is a limit to how much we as individuals can change the world. But this doesn’t mean we should sink into despair. No, as Paul reminds us here, in our walk with God, we are walking with one whose power is above that of all others, the one behind creation and the resurrection. We might not have the power to make the difference that is needed, but he does. Our world is ultimately in good hands.

Father, help us, by your Spirit, to do all we are able for our world and our communities, and help us to trust you to do the rest.
