Ephesians 1:19-23 (NIVUK)
22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

I’ve often found myself pondering what verse 23 means, in what sense does the church contain or express all of Christ, and in what way does Christ fill everything? But that’s a discussion for another time! In terms of our walk with God, verse 22 is relevant and clear. Christ is the head over everything – in other words, every aspect of our life and activity is under his rule as a community and as individuals. We thought about the Countess of Huntingdon recently, here’s a quote of hers for our prayer today…

Heavenly Father, our desire is that the, ‘dear Lamb of God, my best, my eternal, my only Friend should have all dedicated to his service and glory’.
