2 Chronicles 1:2-3 (NIVUK)
2 Then Solomon spoke to all Israel – to the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, to the judges and to all the leaders in Israel, the heads of families – 3 and Solomon and the whole assembly went to the high place at Gibeon, for God’s tent of meeting was there, which Moses the Lord’s servant had made in the wilderness.
God is of course everywhere – or maybe to be more accurate, everything is in God – but for all of us I suspect there are places where we feel more open to God or expect to find him. Similarly, many of us might have particular routines or postures or prayers that we use to help us focus on being in his presence (this is one of the values of liturgy). It’s not that these things make God ‘turn up’, rather, they help us to be more receptive to him and so will be different for different people. For Solomon, the Tent of Meeting was one of those places as it was there that God had revealed during the Exodus. What places do you associate with being in God’s presence?
If you can, visit one of these places today and spend sometime with God there today.
