Exodus 25:30 (NIVUK)
30 Put the bread of the Presence on this table to be before me at all times.
Leviticus 24:5-8 (NIVUK)
5 ‘Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using one fifth of an ephah for each loaf. 6 Arrange them in two piles, six in each pile, on the table of pure gold before the Lord. 7 By each pile put some pure incense as a memorial portion to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the Lord. 8 This bread is to be set out before the Lord regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant.

The Bread of the Presence that Solomon would have put on the table in the Temple originates from the Tabernacle, the forerunner to the Temple, from the Israelites’ time crossing the wilderness in the Exodus. Here they are called to a continual thanksgiving for God’s provision – this bread is baked and put before God week after week after week.

Can you make saying thank you a habit today? What can you thank God for right now?
