1 Corinthians 12:12-14 (NIVUK)
12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
Unity does not equal uniformity, rather it grows out of an appreciation of our differences and equal inherent worth in Christ. It is easy as a Christian to judge ourselves by looking at those around us and wishing we were like them, but God doesn’t call us to be them, he calls us to be the best version of ourselves we can be. Equally, he calls us not to dismiss others because they are not like us, but to appreciate them for who he has made them.
Father, help me to love the person you have made me to be, and to love my sisters and brothers for the people you have made them to be.
