3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labour bears a son,
and the rest of his brothers return
to join the Israelites.

I’ve no doubt that this Christmas we will see depictions on TV of family Christmases where families who have divided come together for Christmas lunch, only to fall out and fall to pieces once again. Such ‘soap opera’ reunions are only skin deep. Micah, however, talks about a deeper reunion through the birth and life of Jesus, with repentance leading to a true reconciliation (pointed to by the word return) between us, and between us and God.

Thank you Jesus, that you were willing to give everything for us, so that we might be brought into relationship with each other, and with God, once again.
