Mark 3:28-30
“Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.’ 30 He said this because they were saying, ‘He has an impure spirit.’.”
We said on Sunday that ‘no sin is beyond God’s grace,’ not even murder or adultery. There appears to be one exception in the Gospels, ‘blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.’ Having witnessed miracles such as the casting out of demons, the Pharisees said “And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, ‘He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.’” They attributed what Jesus did to the Devil. However Jesus is no longer on earth doing miracles, so I believe this sin cannot be repeated today. If you need convincing that any kind of sin can be forgiven, read 1 Corinthians 6.9-11 & 15.9-10.
Lord, how wonderful that you receive and forgive repentant sinners, no matter what they have done!
