1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIVUK)
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
One of the biggest plagues of modern times is not Covid nor flu, but loneliness. There are many reasons for this from working from home, to being more mobile meaning we don’t live amongst the family and friends we grew up with, and ironically, the very technology which was designed to bring us together. We were made to be social creatures, not isolated, and thankfully, God who made us, has also invited us into his family, giving us a place where we can belong and flourish.
Thank you Father for the wonderful home you have offered us in your family, in the church. Thank you for the friends and security you have given us there, and help us play out part in caring for your people and bringing others into it.
