Philippians 1:9-11 NIV
[9] And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, [10] so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, [11] filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
At the beginning of the year it is a good thing to pause and consider the journey we are on and see what progress we have made in the past year. Don’t become too introspective but Paul wants our “love to abound more and more” – that’s a growing, changing, vibrant faith and walk with God. The Lord talks in Malachi about bringing the whole tithe to him and receiving an overflowing blessing – is there a growing joy and knowledge of Jesus in our life today?

in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
