Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Wednesday 3rd July

Reading: Psalm 128:1-4
1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
    who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labour;
    blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
    within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
    around your table.
4 Yes, this will be the blessing
    for the man who fears the Lord.

Thought for Reflection:
This Psalm promises blessing and prosperity to those who fear the Lord. It doesn’t, however, measure prosperity in the usual ways; the size of our pay-packets, the number of bedrooms in our house, the nature of the holidays we can afford or which of the latest gizmos and fashion items we possess. No, in God’s kingdom, prosperity is measured in terms of our relationships.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us today to take stock of the riches we have in our relationships with others and you.
