Bible Notes

Monday 18th November 2013

This week is the first of a two-part instalment of notes based on Daniel in the Old Testament
Reading: Daniel 1:1-2
[1] In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. [2] And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia and put in the treasure house of his god.
Thought for Reflection: This looks like a disaster! Daniel and the best of Gods people forcibly taken around 900 miles into captivity in Babylon – a place with no fear or knowledge of God and away from the place God had promised to bless! But just notice – “The Lord delivered” – sometimes we don’t see why we are in a situation but if we look for Gods purpose it can be transforming!
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes today, to your call and purpose for this day and situation.
