Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Friday 20th December 2013

Today: Please remember Ben in your prayers as he takes the Christingle Service at Wormley School
This Sunday: We meet at the Community Centre at 10.30am for a short service together after which the young people go to film and prepare their part in the Carol Concert, whilst some stay at the Community Centre for a time of prayer and worship and others go out to deliver invites to the Carol Service which is at the Community Service at 6pm.

Reading: Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Thought for Reflection: It’s getting closer! Just as the world seems to be caught up in the celebration of the grace of God that appeared when Jesus was born at Bethlehem so we are reminded that we are waiting for something else – a “blessed hope” – that Jesus, our God and saviour is coming back!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, when you were born at Bethlehem, only a few were looking out for you; help us to be a people looking out for you in every circumstance today.
