Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Friday 27th December 2013

Don’t forget: Our service this Sunday morning is at Wormley Free Church NOT the Community Centre. There is no evening service. We revert back to normal in the New Year.

Reading: Luke 2:15-19

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Thought for Reflection: Christmas Day has come and gone. Boxing Day has passed. What now with Christmas? Is that it for another year? Should we cast it aside with the screwed up wrapping paper? No! Like Mary let’s treasure up what we’ve heard, that God has come amongst us, giving his life so that we may know his peace, and let’s spread the word like the shepherds, telling all what we’ve discovered – the saviour of the world has come!

Prayer: Giving God, help me live in the light of Christmas everyday, revelling in the coming of your Son and sharing with others the greatness of your gift.
