Psalm 147:10-11
10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
We’re constantly judging others and being judged. We make snap decisions based on what people look like or sound like, where they come from, how they dress and what they’re interested in. We consider how talented they are, how strong, how funny, how attractive. In the world of tabloid demands and Photoshop we place impossible expectations on others and demands on ourselves. Here’s a great news; our Father doesn’t rate these impossible factors as highly as we do. Instead he simply asks that we recognise that he is God and put our hope in him.
It’s so simple, Lord, that we find it hard to accept it as true – can it really be that more than anything else you want us to simply accept your love? Lord, we trust in you.
