Ephesians 2:4-5 NIVUK
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.
How do you measure wealth? The chancellor might measure GDP, the bank might measure your account balance and your neighbours might look at the car you drive or the size of the house you own (or the TV screen in it). Reading this, I was struck by how Scripture measures God’s wealth not by these things but by his capacity for mercy. In this he is rich – rich enough, in fact, to pay off our debts.
Father, forgive us our debts, and teach us to forgive those who debt against us, just as you have forgiven us…
