Ephesians 2:11-12 NIV
Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— [12] remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
Sorry, you can’t come in! You’re not on the guest list…
No one likes to be shut out or excluded, especially if it’s because of something you have no control over. There was a time when we would have been excluded from worship, excluded from God’s Presence, simply because we were not descended from Abraham.
For us, this is hard to get our heads around as we’re too used to the joyous message of Jesus. But barred we were.
Thank you Jesus for coming out and saying ‘they’re with me’ and bringing us in. Help us to never take this admission for granted, but to celebrate it instead.
