Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Luke 9:23-25 (27.08.18)

Luke 9:23-25
23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?

Being a follower of Christ is no soft option. Jesus was completely open about what it would entail. It involves personal discipline and self-denial, a complete commitment of our lives. But through that sacrifice of total giving and surrender comes new life: a new and deep self-awareness, personal holiness and the ultimate reward of eternal life.

Lord, as this week begins I dedicate myself, all that I am and do to you. Let me be lost in you and so, carry the message of salvation wherever I go, a living witness to the power of your salvation in my life.
