Psalm 63:1
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
1 You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
The summer has been an exceptionally hot dry one. Plants have been wilting, desperate for the water which they need to survive.
We too are dependent on water, but as the Psalmist implies here, we are also if not more so, dependent on God.
Prayer is a recognition of our need of God, a desperate longing for him.
Father, we need you, help us in prayer to find you.
