9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name…
As our teacher and guide (I am the way…), Jesus teaches us to pray. Prayer, he says, begins and grows from with our relationship with our Father, God himself!
But although we call him Father, and although we can approach him with confidence because of his grace and love as displayed and realised in Christ, prayer also recognises and depends upon his being other, holy and almighty – in other words hallowed. Prayer is only effective and possible because we address the one who both loves us and is omnipotent, all powerful.
