Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Matthew 8:18-22 (21.03.19)

Matthew 8:18-22 NIVUK
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’
26 He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!’

We all face storms in life from time to time, and not just wind and waves. The storms we face might be physical, times of bad health, or emotional, the impact of depression or relational, when friendships break down. The troubling thing about storms is that so often they are out of our control and there is little we can do about them. The good news is that Jesus is still willing to travel with us through them and unlike us, can make things completely calm, either taking our troubles away of giving us the grace to stand through them.

Bring your troubles to God and ask for his help and remember others you know who are enduring storms in life at this time.
