Daniel 7:1-3 NIV
In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote down the substance of his dream. [2] Daniel said: “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea. [3] Four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.
Behind Matthew 24-25 which we’ve been looking at in the mornings these last few weeks, is Daniel’s prophecy in Daniel 7. It starts with four beasts, one like a lion, one like a bear, one like a leopard and one a beast with ten horns. These represent various empires that arose and ruled over much of the world in ancient days. Often the powers we face in life, whether that be political bodies or the ‘powers that be’ or people of influence in our life can seem like these great beasts, greater and more powerful than we can face, but as we shall see, God is greater than them.
What things do you feel powerless before? Bring your helplessness to God and know that he is greater then they.
