Romans 6:5-7 (24.09.19)

Romans 6:5-7 NIV
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. [6] For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— [7] because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

In Jesus’ death he took on himself the brokenness of humanity in all its breadth and scope, and overcame it through his faithfulness to his Father and his love of us. This means that if we die ‘with him’ then that broken life is in the past – no, we’re not perfect, but we’re freed to start to live a new sort of life where the grip that brokenness had on us is loosened.

Give thanks to Jesus for setting you free! Pray about those areas where the brokenness of humanity still clings onto you, that in him you would have the power to break away from it and leave that old life behind.
