Genesis 1:20-23 NIV
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
Although God’s creation is incredibly diverse and rich in its complexity, at its heart is order, things are made according to their kind and for a purpose and work in predictable ways. I find this exciting as it gives us a theological basis for science! Science becomes a description of how God has designed and sustains his world, and also tells us that science can be a form of worship, a delight in God’s handiwork and thus delight in God.
Psalm 8:1 NIV
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
