John 20:24-25 NIV
Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. [25] So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Do you ever feel that you’re missing out on some spiritual experience? That everyone else has deep and meaning encounters with Jesus that you’re not having? Are you somehow to blame for this? Is it that you’re not good enough for God? I know I have felt this. If that has ever been you, maybe you can find relief in discovering Thomas was the same (as indeed were the rest of the male disciples before him, Jesus having appeared to the women first). He was of the same status as the rest, but had a different experience. The truth is, God reveals himself in the ways and times he sees fit.
Father, we hunger after you, and trust that you will reveal yourself to us in the best way.
