1 Peter 1:5-6 NIV
[5] who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. [6] In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
We have heard a lot about “shielding” in the past few months! Usually it is an anxious thing and involves sacrifice and isolation but this is a different kind of shield – here we are shielded, not by our own effort or preparation, but by the power of God who loves us and will keep us to the great say when we meet him face to face! Look at the difference this makes – even though there are all kinds of trials and grief, we can “greatly rejoice” because God is with us!!
Lord, let us know your shielding power today so that our joy in you might shine to the world around us!
