Psalm 122 V. 1-2
A song of ascents. Of David.
I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
Our feet are standing
in your gates, Jerusalem.
Often, on a Monday morning, the prospect of what lies ahead is faced with a heavy heart. Preoccupied by things that confront us and the urgency of what must be done, Sunday’s focus on God and worship can seem a distant echo. But, just like pilgrims climbing the steep hill approaching Jerusalem singing psalms, here is a reminder for us to ascend into the presence of God also and to rejoice in Him even as our feet stand at the gates of what the future holds for us in the week ahead.
Father we rejoice in you as we go into the week ahead. We will go joyfully to your house this week wherever we are or whatever we do and praise your name.
