Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Psalm 122:8-9 (23.10.20)

Psalm 122 V. 8-9
A song of ascents. Of David
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity

As we approach the weekend and reflect on the week, the longing for peace continues to the end of Psalm 122 which concludes with this prayer for inner peace. That is not accidental. In the urgency of work and living, issues to be dealt with, conflicts encountered, worries, and concerns, we can become stressed out individuals and difficult to be around. These things often do effect how we respond to others. God wishes us to find and keep a sense of inner peace and well-being so that we are in the right frame of mind to worship Him, minister to others and to ensure there is peace, not conflict within the House of God, the Church.

Lord of heaven and earth we pray for a peace that the world cannot give but which flows to us from you by grace.
