Psalm 62:11-12 NIV
One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
according to what they have done.”
God rewards everyone by what they’ve done?! This both delights and terrifies me.
It delights me because I know there will be justice, that those who have maliciously and deliberately harmed others and the world we live in won’t simply get away with it, and those whose good deeds and tireless acts of love get overlooked or ignored will be rewarded by none other than God himself!
But it terrifies me because I know that so many of my deeds belong in the first category rather than the second…
The good news is I needn’t panic, for I am in Christ, and it is Christ’s deeds that I am judged for.
