Bible Notes

Isaiah 11:3-4 (16.12.20)

Isaiah 11:3-4
3 and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;
4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.

If the Messiah will delight in the fear of the Lord, how much more should we? God will not judge, we read, simply by what he sees or hears but he will look beyond and into the hearts and reality of people and their lives as they really are. In being told he will give decisions for the poor and needy we have a foreshadowing of what the true ministry of Jesus would be and his call on us his servants to do likewise.

Father, in these days before Christmas with all its joy and pleasures, we recall the true reason you sent your son to be born into a stable and live among us. Help us we pray to renew our faith and that spirit within of compassion and service towards others.
