1 Samuel 10:9-13 (23.03.21)

1 Samuel 10:9-13
9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day. 10 When he and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying. 11 When all those who had formerly known him saw him prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other, “What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”12 A man who lived there answered, “And who is their father?” So it became a saying: “Is Saul also among the prophets?” 13 After Saul stopped prophesying, he went to the high place.

Saul’s calling to be king is affirmed in three ways. The first of these is through the Spirit. Samuel foresees and tells Saul about this encounter with a group of prophets, but it’s not just that Saul meets them as foretold that brings him confirmation, it is God’s Spirit clearly working in him, with onlookers amazed that Kith’s son should join them and even become their leader or Father! We may not have such a dramatic encounter as this, but through his Spirit, God continues to equip and affirm his people today in their work for him.

Spirit, what is it you are doing in my life today? What is it you are seeking to communicate to me?
