1 Samuel 14.7
‘Do all that you have in mind,’ his armour-bearer said. ‘Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.’
We cannot all be leaders, nor should we try to be – too many chiefs means not enough Indians. But what we can do is carry their armour, stand right behind our leaders, support them, and encourage them, especially when we know they are depending on God and determined to see his name exalted. Our leaders need to know that we are there with them, sharing the burden, ready to work with them. God was going to give Jonathan the victory, but the armour-bearer played a big part too.
Lord Jesus, we depend on you, but at the same time we depend on one another. Help us to work together and share the task of revealing your holy truth and your gracious love, and help us to take some of the weight of those who are battling at the front.
