Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
What does it say about God if the first thing that his Spirit did when he came upon the disciples was enable them to speak other languages? God is in the communication business, and his top priority is communicating to those outside the family. Why is this his priority? Surely its simply because he wants them in the family instead!
Spirit, give us a passion for communicating with those outside our family, so that they too may hear God’s invitation to become part of it.
