Bible Notes

2 Samuel 7:11-13 (08.12.21)

2 Samuel 7:11-13
…“‘The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you: 12 When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Not only does Moses act as a ‘sign’ of the Messiah, Jesus, but so does David. When David expresses his desire to build God a temple in Jerusalem, God refuses and says this is for his son to do because he has been a man of war. In that promise, however lies a deeper promise that points beyond David and Solomon to a descendent of David, God’s chosen King, who would reign forever.

Prince of Peace* and King of Kings**! Reign in us Lord Jesus.

* Isaiah 9:6, another prophecy regarding Jesus
** Revelation 17:14 & 19:16
