Ephesians 3:14-16
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
It is important to hear verse 16 as we explore our values together as a church. It would be too easy to make this discussion of our values the construction of a new law that we must follow. Thankfully, it doesn’t work like that. Although the values are aspirations we strive to adopt in our life together, it isn’t all down to us. Instead, these values represent what the Spirit is already bringing about in us and will continue to do so. He has the power to make us people who live such lives. As Noel pointed out on Sunday, power here is not about status, but is about enabling; the Spirit enables us to live this way.
