Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (NIVUK)
4 Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Christian unity begins with God, because God is united; the Father, Son and Spirit may be individual and distinct, but they are one in love and purpose. This declaration, the Jewish shema, links God’s unity with ours; the Trinity is one, and we are to worship him with our whole being.
Lord, I offer you my whole self in worship, my heart, soul and strength.
