Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Matthew 1:11 (13.01.23)

Matthew 1:11
And Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.

You would think that the destruction of Jerusalem and the carrying away of all Judah’s best people to Babylon would have made it impossible to keep track of the line of the Messiah’s ancestry as God had planned it. Yet the line was preserved, and records carefully kept, through those dark days, so that when Jesus was born, his pedigree was unbroken. Many of those recorded over the centuries which followed the exile are unknowns, but God knew them, and was working behind the scenes to bring about the completion of his purposes in Christ.

Lord, most of us are unknowns whom history will ignore. But we believe you are still at work, bringing about your plans for a people who will praise you through all eternity!

‘OUR GOD IS A GREAT BIG GOD,
Our God is a great big God,
Our God is a great big God
And He holds us in His hands.

He’s higher than a skyscraper
And He’s deeper than a submarine.
He’s wider than the universe
And beyond my wildest dreams.
And He’s known me and He’s loved me
Since before the world began.
How wonderful to be a part
Of God’s amazing plan!’
